Debut of the Icom Marine Commander

Icom’s Marine Commander is now fitted to River to Reef’s brand new Surtees 6.7 Sport Fisher. We are looking forward to sea trials of the new system in Queensland during the coming weeks and we will post our results soon after. Here is some more information about this great new product.

Melbourne, Australia June 6th 2011 – Icom Australia is proud to announce that at the 2011 Melbourne Boat Show, patrons will be treated to a sneak peek of the soon-to-be-released Marine Commander system.

The new system is a culmination of Icom’s recent entry into the marine electronics market. Having previously released the MXA-5000 AIS receiver and MA-500TR AIS transponder, Icom has truly outdone itself with the new Marine Commander. Acting as a hub for all on-board electronic devices, the Marine Commander truly lives up to its name.

The main processor is the driving force behind the new system. It can integrate with a compatible VHF radio, AIS transponder, radar or fish finder. It also has the capacity to display real time fuel consumption, engine speed as well as depth and temperature. The unit also features four RCA video connectors to connect onboard cameras (e.g. engine room). Up to two 12.1 inch TFT displays can also be connected, allowing a variety of information to be displayed at one time.

Each TFT display is capable of operating in a 2, 3 or 4 split screen layout, meaning that with two displays attached, up to 8 graphical interfaces can be seen at any one time. They also have ports for both USB drives and SD cards, allowing the Marine Commander to display chart information, when used in conjunction with the AIS units.

When a compatible VHF radio and AIS unit have been attached, the marine commander system will allow one-touch individual DSC calls to be initiated through the main display unit.
To view the Marine Commander in action, visit the River to Reef Boat on Stand E64. You can also see the complete range of Icom equipment, including the new IC-M23 Float’n Flash handheld VHF, on Stand A29. A full revue of the Marine Commander will screen in a River to Reef episode latter this year
